Load definition (Imperfections) |
According to the Codes EC3 and DIN18800, imperfections (prebending and predeflections) have to be applied to certain structures. All German programs allow to do this directly by giving the values for the prebending and/or the predeflection. This is not only an advantage against users of staad, since in Staad the imperfections have to be applied either by substitute loads or by adjusting the joint coordinates, but also a reason to decide against the use of staad. |

Improve torsion stress calculation feature |
The torsional stress calculation feature has too many inherent limitations such as boundary condition and location of maximum stresses that is actually dangerous to use, especially that the limitations and implication of the assumptions are not mentioned in the manual. In S3 torsional stress analysis, the element discretization has profound effect on the torsional stresses since the stresses are computed based on member end torsion only. In addition, the procedure totally ignored concentrated and distributed torsional loads on the member. |

There should be some way to group supports so that you can obtain the total axial, shear and over-turning moments for the group. This would aid in getting the support reactions for a spread footing when you have a column made from a truss type structure. |

Apparently S3 internally determine the minimum number of lumped masses required for performing a eigenvalue analysis regardless of the number of modes requested. The minimum number of lumped masses required should be function of the number of modes requested. I have one case where 1 mode was requested but somehow 4 lumped masses are not sufficient. |

The use of eqs H1-1 and H1-3 AISC ASD 9th ed to calculate biaxial bending and compression stress ratios for hollow circular members gives inaccurate results because these equations calculate the stress ratio at a point the distance of the radius from two perp axis and such a point is not on the crosssection. As with previous versions of STAADiii, member numbers were positioned closest to the "i" joint of the member incidence. This VERY IMPORTANT graphical and design characteristic of the older STAADiii predecessors does not seem to be entrained in the later STAADPro family. At best, a large, unscalable Orientation Arrow must be activated and printed on member number plots/pictures, etc. It is very difficult to read much of a structures numerical data on screen with these Arrows activated. In addition, the ability to position the numbers left, right, up, or down is incomparable to the ability to see a simple, visual representation of the member start/end. Its suggested that the option of placing the member numbers shall be based upon a position closer to Node A(i), or some other simple form of visual representation. J.Hill |

Need batch runs for verification |
Users need batch runs to expedite simultaneous execution of a number of problems for verification/validation purposes. Our ISO requirements dictate that software must be tested for proper installation. |

missing mass correction |
Which method and which Code does STAAD use in calculating missing mass in a dynamic analysis? The STAAD manual makes no mention of this. Would appreciate if the Netguru/REI team could answer this query at the earliest. Thank you. |

Continued support of STAAD as well as STAAD/Pro |
Some users have no need for STARDYNE or other new interface options. If resources available...charge maintenance so as to be self-sufficient. |

Change Local Axes Orientation |
Give the option to change the local axes orientation at any point. This will be helpful in
lining up any local axes of a structure that may have become disoriented during generation. Also if the designer wanted all the walls y axis outward, x axis horiz, y axis vertical, etc. without having to rotate and reorient the elements. |

Adding(/removing) new member to the group |
Add/Remove feature should be added to handling of groups in STAAD/Pro. Now big model can not be filtered in any way when you add member(s) to medel. Compare to to STAAD-III Geometry/Group/Modify. |

Split the forces when member is split |
When adding extra joints in an old member that has loads on already: give the opportunity to transform the loads on new members too. Point loads/moments and uniform/trapezoidal loads, too. That is: split the loads to appropriate members. |

The Loads tab needs a toggle for "highlight selected beams". Currently, only a list of members is displayed below the "assign to edit list". A list is not helpful, highlighted beams are useful. |

Layers for visual reference |
Incorporate layers for visual reference. Allow users to draw or import backgound objects or structures that can be used only as reference and will not be included in the design or analysis. This is similar to CAD programs with multiple layers for drawings. An example is a pipe support rack where static and dynamic analysis is performed on the rack, but the pipe routing can be seen on another layer not used in the analysis. The layer could be turned on or off. It would also be useful to be able to measure dimensions from the background elements and to snap to points of the background elements when drawing the Staad structure for analysis. |
